Well it finally happened! We saw Nancy (our white leghorn) come out of the coop yesterday squawking and doing a weird dance. We thought for sure she had laid an egg. I checked the nest box and nothing although I saw that she had made a bit of a nest in the coop. It’s an awkward spot to get to but I looked and didn’t see anything.
Well today I checked the nest box and again came up empty but I could see the egg in her makeshift nest. I went through the back door of the coop and stretched and contorted and found not just todays egg but the one we were sure was laid yesterday. Seems Nancy is good at hiding that egg too as it was really in the straw.
So today was a 2 for 1 deal and we are so very excited. Now all we need to do is get Amber, Bailey and Coco to join the butt nugget (yes I hate that phrase) train. Once that happens we will have brown eggs to go along with Nancy’s white eggs.
So proud, way to go Nancy. I already have strawberry tops chopped up for you to have tomorrow.
