Some of my ducks are trying to brood and hatch eggs. The first two are young and not very good at staying on the nest.
A couple weeks ago I candled all their eggs and found 2 that were viable. I felt we had a better chance of hatching with the incubator. Not knowing exactly how far along the eggs were (only a guess based on reference material) I waited and hoped for the best.
Last night one of them pipped (made a small hole in the shell) and eventually the duckling will zip the shell (crack it all the way around) before hatching.
Trouble is it can take 12-48 hrs from pip to zip.
So I wait ……..Hurry up quacker!!!
